Not long ago, I found a few boxes of letters written between my grandparents in the 1920s before they were married.
Florence Powars was 17 when she dressed up as a Gypsy fortune teller at a Halloween carnival. Little did she know the tall, blond athlete named Fred Stancliff who walked into her tent would be with her for a very long time.
This is their story through letters and journal entries. It's a fascinating peek into a relationship that would last until Fred's passing in 1995.
